Like I said in my last post, I’m working on projects and my primary project, which is still a secret, is still in progress.

However I just finished a little side project today and I’m excited to show it off.

Fully restored and fully operational.  The hardest part was figuring out a way to power the camera. It requires an obsolete Eveready 4.5v battery that looks like a AA.
To solve that problem, I headed to my local Radioshack and grabbed three 1.5v N batteries(3 x 1.5v = 4.5v), did some soldering and success! Shutter and flash sync work.

You might be wondering why I would even bother to fix up this ancient Polaroid camera knowing that Polaroid film is non existent. Let me explain..
The film used in this camera and all of the other Polaroid Pack Film Camera’s use a film called.. Pack Film. It’s a pretty common film that is used not only by these cameras, but also by Polaroid backs used on Hasselblads, Mamiyas, Nikons, etc. Although Polaroid did stop production, Fuji has been making Pack Film for a long time so supply is not a problem!

Cost wise, it’s about the same price as Polaroid 600 was. $1-ish a shot.

Another reason why I wanted a Polaroid Pack Film Camera, was because I wanted/needed the PC flash sync. Being able to use this camera with any external flash is a huge plus.

Also in other news.. I haven’t done much photography in a while and don’t expect it to pick up anytime soon. I’ve been working on other design and programming projects for clients and it’s been consuming very much all my time, besides school and work. Photography isn’t paying the bills either. But don’t worry I’m not quiting! I have some shoots lined up still
On a positive note, I’ve managed to pick up a lot of knowledge while doing these projects and I plan to create some ideas I have, and expect some big changes for aaronvb.com and junkparty.com! So don’t leave me yet okay.

I just read the horrible news about a fellow photographer, Sergio Goes - here in Hawaii, and it saddens me that such an amazing and bright photographer has passed at such a young age.

His photos are very inpsiring and definitely capture me.. and I can’t say that about a lot of photographers here in Hawaii.

due to the rising price of gas, i am saddened to announce that it is inevitiably/unfortunately/directly hampering my ability to develop and scan film. so for now, updates will be on hiatus.
